A few weeks ago BenQ hosted an event at Jaya One to launch what it’s calling the “world’s first flicker-free VA LED monitor.” The first in the range of these flicker-free monitors is the 27-inch BenQ GW2760HS VA LED LCD monitor.
Flickering in monitors occur when the LED backlight controller adjusts to the changes in brightness levels especially when not on maximum brightness. Some regular monitors could flicker up to 200 Hz. These flickering are usually not visible to the naked eye, however our eyes are sensitive even to the slightest change, and in effect will cause strain to the ciliary muscle causing eyestrain, fatigue, headaches and even myopia. This effect is usually being referred to as ‘computer vision syndrome‘.
BenQ’s approach with the GW2760HS is by adopting a ‘De-flickering Backlight Circuit Controller’ which is said to have a zero-flicker viewing experience to reduce such concerns.
Besides this there are five other ergonomically implemented features:
Senseye Reading Mode that adjust color temperature and brightness, balancing contrast ratio and sharpness, to create a display that appears paper-like.
Automatic Eye-Protect Sensor is BenQ’s marketing name for its ambient light leveling and adjustment to automatically optimize monitor brightness throughout the day.
Height Adjustment Stand provides an easy way for the user to adjust the height, tilt, pivot, stroke and swivel of the monitor, ensuring best viewing angles.
Smart Reminder is a built-in utility that , once set, will periodically nudge users to take a break from using the monitor.
Anti-Glare Display is another way of saying that the GW2760HS is a matte display instead of a glossy one; the former is much better and reducing glare and reflection from other light sources.
BenQ GW2760HS comes in one color option (Glossy Black), has a Full HD 1920 x 1080p resolution at 16:9 aspect ratio. It’s already on sale since May for RM959. Other flicker-free models, 24-inch down to 18.5-inch variants will be rolling out in the coming months.
