With the kind of hours we spend in front of a computer monitor, eye-strain or even Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) can present a major problem, especially for those already with poor eyesight. With that in mind, BenQ is taking steps to reduce and even remedy this growing health concern among office workers, students and gamers alike.

BenQ hopes to bring long-term benefits to end users through its Eye-care initiative. It is able to do that with its new range of flicker-free VA LED monitors that also has a number of presets for Low Blue Light (LBL) modes.

BenQ’s VA LED panel is claimed to be the next step in combining the fast response time of a conventional TN panel and the viewing angles of an IPS display. The company’s VA monitor is also said to produce better colours and deeper blacks than IPS.

BenQ’s Eye-care range come with the ability to filter out harmful blue light from as low as 30% to as high as 70%. This can be done using one of four preset modes that are available to users: Multimedia, Web surfing, Office, and Reading. Those 4 options are for usual tasks and BenQ has added 10 more for gamers to let them find the perfect balance between colour reproduction and reducing eye strain. Even with the addition of those new features, viewing angles and display quality have not been compromised. The displays can push out a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and thus producing whiter whites and blacker blacks.

The company believes in its Eye-care initiative and since April last year, has included its Flicker-free technology as standard across its range of business, home, professional, entertainment and gaming monitors. This year, BenQ has released monitors that have fully implemented the LBL tech which was the next step in its initiative.

“Health is an issue we take very seriously and we are the first to incorporate Eye-care into monitors making BenQ a better choice in terms of health, while also producing superior image quality and functionality, putting our brand well ahead of competitive models,” said Chaw Foo Hung, General Manager of BenQ Malaysia, “In introducing Eye-care, we have committed to care for the health of our consumers”.

Here are BenQ’s range of monitors that come with technologies found in its Eye-care initiative:

BenQ is also having a contest from now until the 10th of September. Check contest microsite for more details.

For a bit of fun, check out the kitschy video below which incidentally does not match BenQ’s seriousness with its concern about our vision.
